Second Chance is a retail consignment shop selling a variety of items to raise funds for and support ACARF, the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility. ACARF (Allen County Animal Rescue Facility) is a non-profit no-kill animal shelter/rescue in rural La Harpe, Kansas. We were created through a grassroots effort of citizens who wanted more for area animals in need. Prior to the opening of ACARF in July of 2010, Allen County area dogs and cats who were unwanted, stray, neglected, or abused had little hope. If impounded, they were kept in the back of a veterinary clinic for three days and then (if not claimed by an owner) euthanized. ACARF gives animals in jeopardy a safe haven of love, healing, nurturing, and protection. We are the voice for those who need us. Through our media efforts, dogs and cats in our care are promoted on a nationwide network of adoption platforms to give them the best possible chance at a loving and lasting home. Our efforts continue through the generosity of donors. We operate with a very small staff and do all we can to keep costs low while providing the best possible care for the animals we love.
