About Us

SEK-CAP is a non-profit social service agency, dedicated to eliminating the causes of poverty in Southeast Kansas since 1966.

Our rich history of service to the people and communities of Southeast Kansas demonstrates the outstanding commitment and dedication over the years by countless employees, volunteers, and partners.

Our services are developed to address the following specific community needs: housing, utilities, transportation, employment, medical care, child care, education, nutrition, and community resource awareness.

As a member of the national Community Action Partnership representing over 1,000 agencies, we embrace innovation and encourage civic involvement. We are a leader in the state of Kansas, one of eight organizations designated to receive Community Service Block Grants (CSBG).

The Promise of Community Action:
''Community action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.''

Our Vision…FOR THE PEOPLE WE SERVE
Individuals and families see themselves as vital components of their community and participate in the on-going agency planning. As individuals and groups, they have the power and ability to make and affect change in their lives, their families and communities. All individuals and families have the same opportunities to meet their basic needs and have the knowledge through education to access available resources.
