A highlight to many Allen County locals, the Allen County Fair acts as a special treat to end the summer days with. Activities happen all day and into the evenings to make a fun family week. The Fair includes exhibits from a wide variety of talents, including entomology, gardening, woodworking, photography, arts and crafts, farm-raised products and livestock. These exhibits are open to the public, with entries submitted by the general public, 4-H and FFA members. Other favorite events include a tractor pull, horse pulls, a rodeo, a mud run, the Baby Barn Yard and live music. New events such as corn hold tournaments and best-dressed pet competitions are added from year to year to help keep the attractions new and fresh.
The Allen County Fair events are centrally located at Iola’s Riverside Park. People can stroll through the livestock barns, pop in the recreation building to bid on baked goods and crafts and then scoot on over to cool off and the local pool. Everything sits within easy walking distance to make participation fun as well as convenient.
When people are ready for lunch, dinner or a tasty snack, food trucks from all over the area line up near the Fair’s main stage. Everyone should bring their appetites for that good old Kansas BBQ, funnel cake, potato spirals and more.
